Botanical Garden
Akureyri's Botanical Garden is home to almost 2,000 species of plant. It was opened in 1912 and is the most northern garden of its kind in the world. Every plant species native to Iceland is represented, plus many more.

The sulphur pits and boiling mud pools at Namaskard are worth a visit, an amazing example of the inner workings of our planet.

Godafoss Waterfall

These spectacular falls are named after the day that the Chieftain Thorgeir of Ljosvatn threw a collection of heathen statues into the falls to publicly declare his conversion to Christianity in 1000AD.
